Lou Miranda Estate 2013 Old Vine Shiraz Barossa Valley

Colour Inky Dark Red with brick red hues.
Aroma Intensely aromatic with brown spices of clove, star anise and mace.
The spice notes are intertwined with prune, black olive and fruitcake.
All developed full mature tertiary fruit characteristic with a complexing
intriguing earthiness. Very complex, multilayered and nuanced.
Palate A full bodied dense palate with high extract of tannin and flavour. It
is a wine with richness and depth of concentration. The intense fruit
sweetness typical of old vine fruit is balanced by oak flavours from
extended maturation in oak and this adds a savouriness to the wine
and gives persistence and length.
Winemaking Lou Miranda Estate Old Vine Shiraz is sourced from 100 year old
Barossa Valley vines (Classified Centenarian Vines as per the Barossa
Old Vine Charter) from the Estates ‘Winery Church’ block at Rowland
flat planted 1907. The vines are completely hand tended. The fruit was
carefully assessed for complete ripeness of sugar and tannin prior to
hand picking. Only small open fermentation and gentle maceration are
used to produce the wine.
Assessment This is a highly concentrated red wine. The intense flavour is matched
by tannin from both fruit and oak maturation adding to the overall
extract and structure of the wine Big and opulent pair with intensely
flavoured dishes, a BBQ meat feast of ribeye, T-bone, fillet steak or
cured salami, mettwurst or highly flavoured sausage.
Cellar With appropriate cellaring and patience 10-15+ years will see the
wine mature and evolve giving greater satisfaction. We recommend
decanting prior to serving to enhance your enjoyment.
