Harewood Estate “FLUX-I” Shiraz Tempranillo, 2015, Great Southern, Western Australia

These grapes from Western Australia’s Great Southern region were picked deliberately later to push the flavours into “blockbuster” territory. The blend is 80% Shiraz and 20% Tempranillo, matured in French oak for 18 months.
Ripe Shiraz aromas of blackberry, chocolate and earthy tar are complemented by Tempranillo’s dark cherry and leather. The palate is powerful and dark with concentrated, almost dried blackcurrant leading to a complex mid palate of mocha and liquorice with black cherry flavours in the long finish.
This wine can be enjoyed with dishes such as Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce.
It can also benefit from up to ten years careful cellaring.

Description

Something different for you!
This is a unique presentation in our portfolio. Working with “Flux” meaning change and variety, the FLUX wines are a progressive range from Harewood Estate Winemaker James Kellie, at home in Western Australia’s Great Southern region.
With FLUX, James uses grapes and winemaking styles that are not traditional for the Great Southern region, to produce small-batch, unique wines.
Both the wine and the label are an intriguing result of an educated, yet experimental process. In FLUX there is more freedom – but an equal attention to detail – as we find in James Kellie’s other elegantly composed wines.
